Shadows of Brimstone is a game we play a lot! I have mentioned it previously on my blog, and have always described it as a ‘Wild West Cthulhu’ version of Warhammer Quest. It is made by Flying Frog and is one of the best games I have ever played. It is fun, tough and different every time we play.

It also contained a lot of miniatures, most of which are unpainted. I have decided to dedicate one day of the week to painting these miniatures so we no longer have to endure grey plastic while we are playing. It is going to take many weeks to get through the backlog, but the miniatures are different to what I usually work on so should be good for a break. Wednesday’s will be my Shadows day. Here are the ones that I finished off this week:

I am a particular fan of the raptor and the slugs as they are bright coloured and stand out. I mostly used drybrushing to achieve the effects on them. The slime on the slugs was added using water effects paint!

Something a bit different was in order today. I wanted to have a break from painting Space Marines and Games Workshop miniatures, so broke out some of the board game ones that have been hanging around the house for ages. Shadows of Brimstone, for those that don’t know is an adventure game. The best way I can describe it is Wild West, Cthulu Warhammer Quest. It has a variety of expansions, and I have been painting some from the Space Ship one, as well as finishing off some others as well. Here they are:

I have used a range of different techniques to paint these miniatures. Including contrast paint over silver, speed painting and using tape to create lines on bases. I have a few more to finish as well, and I will likely work on these over the weekend. Although the quality of the miniature is not the same as Games Workshop, I have really enjoyed the change!

Later this evening, I am off for a beer and board games evening at the local club. I am going to be playing a very fun game called Shadows of Brimstone. For those that have never heard of it before, it is like Warhammer Quest but more Wild West Cthulhu style. It’s a savage game but a lot of fun.

It does contain miniatures and so I haven’t bene painting and touching up some of them so we can play tonight.

I painted them quickly but think they turned out alright. The sculpts on them are questionable at best and certainly lacked detail. They were fun however and will make playing a bit later on much more fun.
