Imperial Fists Tank!

As most of you know, I love painting tanks. I’ve had this one kicking about for a while, and decided to paint it yellow. Most people do not like painting yellow! I am not too bothered by it now as I have done it a fair few times. I find that if you get the undercoat right, then it is a lot easier to apply. I try and use a red based brown – like Doombull by Games Workshop – and then apply several thin coats of Averland Sunset. You can also use pink to highlight it, which I have done here using P3’s Carnal Pink. Here are the results:

I used the airbrush for the base yellow, and for applying the grime at the bottom of the tank too. The top part with the gun on I have not attached as yet. As I do not intend to keep this one, it will be easier to post this way!

This tank, and some other goodies, are available in the shop! https://hereticdeb.com/shop/

Land Raider Spartan – Raven Guard

Hurrah! Here we have another tank that I have worked on recently. This time, it is one of the new Land Raider Spartans for the Raven Guard army I have been painting through the year. I absolutely love tanks, and of course, this one was as good as all the others I have done. Every one I do just reminds me how much fun tanks are. Here it is, in all it’s glory.

I’m so pleased with how it turned out. The scuffs and battle damage make this tank seem as though it has already been in combat and of course it matches the others in the army too!

Palanite Wagon – Necromunda

Necromunda has become a feature in our household for some time! The gang have already finished one campaign and are now on about starting up a new one, with new gangs. One of them decided to play the Palanite Enforcers this time around, going for a dark blue and yellow colour scheme. Seeing how they are meant to be the police. As it was her birthday recently, our gift to her was a truck. The design and printing was handled by Dave, I did the painting. This is how it turned out:

It was a huge print, but a complete joy to paint. Battle damage seemed to be a must, considering that it’s Necromunda! The best part was how much she loved it though.

Kratos Tank – Raven Guard.

This last week, I have painted a lot of vehicles! The first of which was a Kratos Tank for the Raven Guard. It is a wonderful vehicle! I loved the shape, the size, the amount of guns it had. Everything about this tank made it cool.

I painted it in the scheme of the Raven Guard I have done several times before, as it was for the same person, and I am particularly pleased with how it turned out. Here it is:

As you can see, this tank was too big to fit in my lightbox properly, so I had to use the painting desk as a background, albeit with clean paper! I did not want to send this tank to its new home, and look forward to eventually getting one of my own in the future.

Iron Warriors Tank!

As most of you know already, I love tanks. I love painting them and think they look cool. So today I decided to finish off/touch up one of the Iron Warrior Tanks that I have had laying around here for ages.

I added a lot of grime in the recesses to make them stand out, and some battle chips with rust, and more grime too! I airbrushed Seraphim Sepia around the bottom of the tank to make it look extra muddy and painted over the black to make it look a little crisper too.

I am so pleased with how this tank turned out!

Freehand on the Tank.

One of my clients has recently retired from the Coast Guard, and has asked me to paint an Inquisitor and his retinue in Coast Guard colours. This group also need a super cool transport, which I have been working on this past week. He asked if it could be painted in the colours of the Coast Guard’s vehicles, with their symbol on the back. I was only too happy to oblige. It turned out to be quite the challenge. This is the symbol I worked from, and the car for reference too:

I wanted the symbol to look really cool, so decided the yellow would be a non metallic metal gold. First thing I did was sketch out the symbol where I wanted it on the tank in pencil

I then proceeded to add the gold, working up through the colours starting dark and then layering up yellows and browns until I had the effect I wanted.

I added the gems in the crown and tidied up the details.

The final part – which was the hardest – was adding the ‘Greek Key’ pattern over the top of the gold. This was particularly nerve-wracking, as if I had gone wrong, I would have had to start over again. I practiced the pattern first, then lightly drew it on in pencil. I then painted over it.

Lastly, I used bluetack to lift of the remaining pencil and the end result is what you see.

Now I just need to finish the rest of the tank!

Raven Guard – Part 2

This week has mostly been spent painting Raven Guard. They are a part of the same army I worked on a couple of weeks ago, and I have used the same scheme, only this time it included a Land Raider Achilles. This made me happy because it’s a tank, and I love painting tanks.

Here they are in all their shining glory.

I am glad to have done these, I’m pleased with the edge highlights on all of them, I think they look sharp. This makes the battle scuffs on the tank look really good – at least I think so.

Streaming, a tank and a sneaky peak at the First 3D print

I have started streaming again. I am finding that a very enjoyable experience and I am sure my 3 regular viewers do too. It’s good to talk hobby while painting, but also just good to talk. I enjoy seeing the discussions people have with one another while I am painting too – not always about Warhammer either. I am still working out a schedule for it, though Monday nights are a definite.

I also found it to be very focusing and I achieved a lot on both streams I have done. Today, I finished a tank in 2 hours. I had already done the base colour this morning with the airbrush, and the rest I got through quickly.

Here is the tank in question:

The other thing discussed on the stream was the 3D printing. The first miniatures have been produced and I even have one painted!

These are meant to be the traitor version of the Solar Auxilia – the Lunar Auxilia for 30k. They are being produced under license too, so they’re the ‘read deal’. Here is a sneak peak of the first one!

Watch this space for more details soon!

Return with a bang!

Well, I have finally moved into the new house and set up one of the rooms to be my painting lair! I am so relieved to be back in a routine of painting and working! The move went as well as these things can, with only the minor hitch of the Hire Van Window being broken – it had slipped downand the electronics decided to not work. A quick fix with gaffa tape and some plastic and we were all good.

It took a while to get everything sorted out, but here is my new painting set up.

Rolando is proving to be a capable assistant

The first thing I wanted to do was finish off a couple of Salamander’s tanks that I had worked on before the move. It was a good way to get back into painting again and they served as a refresher as well.

I am now working on a Judiciar for my Blood Angel’s force, this involved edge highlighting and I am sure that will be more of a challenge that the battle damaged tanks I have just finished.

It is good to be back, that much I will say!

Salamander’s Tanks

Last week, while not preparing for the move, I got down to painting a couple of tanks. I love painting tanks, the minis are big enough to get in to but not too big to take forever, and I love how I manage to out battle damage on them too. It gives them a more authentic feel to them I think – nothing like a grimy tank to show the effect of a good fight! Here they are: an Impulsor and a Repulsor Executioner too:

The decals, when they have been painted over with damage and grime, really sit well with these minatures and I couldn’t resist painting the flames on the centre part of both tanks either. It just adds another quality touch and helps break up the green too.

Both of these tanks sold within an hour of me putting them up for sale as well, so I know there is going to be more tanks in the very near future for me.
